He didn’t have to look at Clark to know he was staring. He didn’t dare to look over his shoulders because he knew he would be met by a set of pleading blue eyes. He wanted him to stay the night, to get under the covers once more and come back to him. “Gotham would be fine on its own for one night,” Clark had once said. “You need to take some time for yourself once in a while.” He wanted Bruce to take a break, not just on date nights, but just because. This concept was of course not something Bruce was willing to consider. Gotham could set itself on fire if not patrolled properly and innocent people would die. Taking a day to himself to relax instead of preventing the death of innocent civilians would be selfish. But he couldn’t deny that the idea of being able to get back under the blankets with Clark, was tempting. It would be so easy to wrap let himself wrap his arms around Clark and pull him close, share soft kisses under the blankets as he dozed back to sleep. It would be so easy, but at the same time, it’s so hard to turn his back on Gotham. They both knew how this would end. Clark didn’t say anything as Bruce got up from the bed and left for patrol.
Someone once asked me if I was writing a no-power au. And I kind of like the idea of Clark not having powers. So I’m kind of dabbling in that verse. lol
